In 1966, the French journalist and art critic Pierre Cabanne interviewed Marcel Duchamp (1887-1968), the most radical of the reformers of 20th century art, whose outstanding significance is now unquestionable, in those years were just beginning to be realized. Two years before his death Duchamp, demonstrating a phenomenal memory, unfailing wit and charming spontaneity, looked back on the interviewer's restrained and delicate questions on the lived life, many events of which can be called works art with no less foundation than the objects created by the inventor of the red-maida.
